Textile Pickup & Recycling Support for the LA Fire Crisis
Please Note: We are at capacity and no longer accepting pickup requests for donation sites. Thank you for your understanding.
Like many of you, we've watched the heartbreaking devastation in Los Angeles unfold over the last week. As local efforts to provide relief on the ground have been mobilized, we've received outreach from dozens of organizations requesting assistance with excess clothing donations that have become a strain on their teams and operations.
At this time we are mobilizing in LA to help in 3 ways:
1) Removing excess clothing from donation centers that are over capacity and need to put their labor and space resources to better use. All collections will be sent to our sorting and grading facility to be responsibly repurposed, recycled or downcycled. Trashie keeps 95% of what we collect out of landfill. 2) Replacing the clothing we collect with direct cash and giftcard donations to be distributed to those in need in the same areas.
3) In the coming weeks, we will also work to supply pre-sorted, quality used clothing to vetted aid partners that serve populations affected by the fires, according to each partner's specific needs.
Everything collected will help fund direct aid for those in need and will allow donation centers to maximize the support they can best provide. We'll keep you updated on our efforts through social media: @trashie on Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok and Snapchat.
FOR ORGANIZATIONS IN NEED OF TEXTILE COLLECTION ASSISTANCE:
Our goal is to to provide collections support to as many organizations in need as possible.
Please fill out the form below to help us best assist you and to get on our pickup scheduling list. We hope to understand:
- How much clothing and textiles need to be removed
- Your team's availability to provide access and loading support
- If you need additional supplies to be pickup-ready
Depending on your needs and requirements, we may supply pre-paid bags that can be return shipped via UPS or provide a free, convenient truck pickup.
We have collected from 10 sites as of January 19, with more to follow next week. Pickup scheduling remains open for organizations in need.
